What is Silagra?

Silagra is a phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) inhibitor drug used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. Under natural conditions, that is, with sexual stimulation, Silagra restores impaired erectile function by increasing blood flow to the penis.

The physiological mechanism responsible for penile erection involves the release of nitric oxide (NO) in the cavernous body during sexual stimulation. Due to this, there is an increase in blood flow to the male genitalia and the subsequent relaxation of their smooth muscle tissues.

What you need to know before you start taking Silagra
Do not take Silagra if you are allergic to its composition. Also, it should not be taken if you are taking medications to treat pulmonary hypertension (especially Adempas, an antihypertensive drug that stimulates the enzyme guanylate cyclase).

The co-administration of Silagra and nitrates, for example, Nitroglycerin, is contraindicated, since their mechanism of action is associated with the release of the NO factor. As a result, the vessels can greatly expand and this will lead to a sharp drop in blood pressure with a possible loss of consciousness.

Before using Silagra, you should consult a doctor to collect your medical history to make sure that there are no conditions such as:

  • heart disease (arrhythmia, arterial hypo- or hypertension, coronary heart disease);
  • circulatory disorders;
  • retinitis pigmentosa (hereditary eye disease);
  • visual impairment;
  • diseases of the hematopoietic system (for example, anemia, leukemia);
  • pulmonary venous-occlusive disease (complications of pulmonary hypertension, in which small pulmonary veins are affected);
  • diseases of the liver and/or kidneys;
  • physical deformation of the penis (for example, Peyronie’s disease).
  • The drug is intended for use in men only.

Silagra is allowed for use from the age of 18.
